Collections

Current Projects:

  • The Collections group has initiated an audit of all items and artifacts which are stored at Yankee. The goal of this audit is to attain full accountability for all items received after the fire from 2004 to the present. This includes identifying items and our database and the data to the physical objects.

  • The Anotov AN-2 which sat for years in the airpark was recently brought into the High Bay and painted. Bob Hassan and the Collections Department, with help from the Restoration Department, have painted and reattached the wings on the Antonov. The aircraft has the Soviet star and numbering painted on to reflect the Cold War style.

  • The DC-9 cockpit is being restored and hardware is being installed which will give Yankee another working simulator. At present we do not know if this will be used only by trained pilots or if the software will also accommodate the general public such as the Education simulator does. We hope to have the project complete prior to the Gala in November.

We're accepting items by appointment only, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday 10am-4pm. If you have items you would like to donate please email our Collections Manager, Pete Stone or call 734-483-4030.

We are currently seeking equipment and uniforms from the Vietnam War and the Gulf War.

We are not accepting any books, magazines, or models at this time.
