US Army M5 Bomb Trailer
These trailers were used extensively in WWII on air bases for the transport of bombs and other ordnance. The example we have has been sitting outside for many years and is in need of complete overhaul. This trailer was stripped of its original tool box at some point, but we have located a replacement and have begun work to return this trailer to its WWII configuration. After much research, we have a plan and have begun to turn some wrenches.

M5 in use at Donaldson Air base in WWII (YAM photo collection)

The trailer arrives at the hangar 28 October 2006

Disassembly has begun

Here is a photo of the first Restored M-5 parts. The Data Plate, the Warner Brake Switch and the Blackout light switch are done and ready
for the rest of the trailer to catch up.
We also got a wiring harness from Vintage Wiring of Maine, he did not have a pattern for the M-5, so we sent him what was left of our old one, and he built us a new replacment.
